Primary standardized tests (SAT, ACT) are a common requirements for colleges. Some conservatories and music/design schools as well as some satellite schools do not require standardized tests. However, for the most part, taking the SAT or ACT is a must for college applications.
For these standardized tests, it’s important to practice beforehand to get used to the time pressure and the format of the questions. Getting familiar with the types of questions and frameworks for working through them can save you precious minutes during the test to avoid mistakes and running out of time.
You can also take these tests multiple times to optimize your score. We generally recommend our students take standardized tests up to three times. Make sure to leave enough time between each retake to study the material and take practice tests to improve your score.
